Take That!

I am sure you have heard the breaking news that Take That are currently doing a reunion tour, which was in Munich last night.

The radio stations here like to celebrate whoever is performing in Munich by playing their songs ALL day. So after a good half hour of listening to Take That, yesterday, I suggested to Jamie (the 2 year old I hang out with all day) that perhaps we could have a break from the radio? He refused, claiming he liked the music! Knowing that in order to survive any more Take That, that I would need to adopt some coping strategies and I decided to teach Jamie some of the likely moves that Take That would have whipped out back in the day (I, of course was just guessing as I was never into Take That - I know you would know much more about them than I, so, apologies for any mistakes I may make ;P).

I think I recognize this poster from your wall?

So, as I get uber involved in my tragic 90's dance sequence, Jamie starts killing himself laughing thinking it was hilarious. This is all the encouragement I need to keep on performing. It was only when I heard the applause that I realize that the performance was not only entertaining Jamie, but also a crew of five workmen who had just appeared outside!!!!! How embarrassment!! Not sure what feedback I got back from them, thanks to the language barrier, but I am pretty sure they were in awe of my wicked moves! Probably wanted to sign me up for Justin Timberlake or something - you know how it is. Sometimes it's tough being so cool.

I know you are bursting to bust a move now, so I found these instructions for you!

The Plum Fiasco.....

Before Chris left for Switzerland I asked if he could pick up some fruit for me to eat during the week. As a result I arrived home to discover 5 bananas, 6 apples, blueberries, oranges and........2kg of plums!
Bless his socks, he really did not want me to starve!
I do love to indulge in fresh fruit, but imagine what 2kg of plums would do to my system!!!
And so as my pathetic attempt to eat them during the week, led to only a tiny dent in the pile of juicy velvet fruit I decided I needed to do something with them........

pitted and purple

A few blueberries for good measure

Look at the amazing colour that seeped out of the skin!
It's a Hubba Bubba  colour feast!

Mouth watering goodness!

Jarred and ready to mix through some yoghurt!

Delicious!

One day.......five countries

Hello Poppet!
Sorry I have been absent for the past few days - have been on a road trip following to Le Tour de France! That's right - I was there when the very first Aussie won it!! Atmosphere was amazing, scenery incredible and also managed to squeeze in five countries on our first day (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy).

Here is a snapshot of the crowd eagerly anticipating Cadel's win!
Will post more soon - it's off to bed for me now though.

Beetroot salad

We have been getting a lot of beetroot in our food connect box these past couple of weeks. I love them in all their redish, purplish beauty and have been saving them up for something special. Tonight was the night! I found this recipe and thought it was perfect ... and can I say it was delicious! I added some haloumi and broccoli which the kids loved. It was quick, easy, healthy and delicious and would give it the thumbs up if ever you have some beets on hand.

Snapshots....

Just wanted to share some snapshots of my day.......

A new tune

Life has been quiet here lately. J is away and it means that while things are a little busier, they are also simpler and quieter and more introspective. Our little point and shoot camera is also playing up which makes it a little hard to take snaps for you!

But in saying that, I have discovered some new tunes! You know how we love to play songs to each other ... let me know what you think! Have a listen

Magic Spaces

I discovered this fabulous playground on my wanders the other day and immediately thought of you guys and how much fun Ike and Nina would have here.

Sadly, due to trespassing laws and all that, I could only get snap happy from the other side of the fence.

Notice the peepholes all along the fence?

Thought you would appreciate the beautiful use of natural materials and the organic forms.

Wish you were all here to have a play in real life, but photos will have to do for now.

And the evening goes on and on and on.............

I have always been relatively neutral towards the idea of daylight saving, but after spending some time here I am completely sold on the idea!

Because it doesn't get dark here until after 9:30 Chris and I have been trying to make the most of our evenings and have recently taken up the fabulous sport of badminton!

I am a little addicted to it and occassionally have to beg Chris to join me as I don't think he has the same passion for it as I do. Or perhaps this is becasue we have finally found a sport that I am better at than he is :)

I heart long summer evenings and badminton!!!

Could winter be gone?

Last weekend we packed up and went to the beach and you know, it was actually almost warm! I had premature thoughts that maybe winter was on the way out. But alas, it has turned windy and cold this week. Never mind ... we did have a lovely day out. 'Nina no-fear' enjoyed the water and Ike pondered life on his construction site. It was a lovely day!

Looks as though we are both yearning for some sunshine and warmth!

Oh Sunny Day

It has been a gloomy few days here in Munich as the clouds unleash their drops and the cool winds scare off any hint of warmth..........so much for it being summer hey?
But these are the days that help us appreciate the glorious days of sunshine even more!

Sending a little bit of sunshine your way to warm your day!

Love!
